Havana, July 29 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel described as slanderous the statement made by the European Union's (EU) High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader pointed out that it is incredible that the European official did not mention in the text the genocidal and cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade that the U.S. government maintains against his country; and instead he lied and slandered.

'Is it a lack of courage or submission,' the head of state of the Caribbean nation asked

On Thursday,  the European bloc issued a statement showing its 'unequivocal support' to the participants in the July 11 riots in Cuba while demanding the release of those detained for those events.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also strongly rejected such pronouncements and remarked that the EU representative did not mention the U.S. siege, which also violates the sovereignty of the countries of the so-called Old Continent and imposes its laws and courts.

Rodriguez also urged the official to address the brutal police repression in the nations that make up the group.
