Beijing, Aug 4 (RHC)--China considered a demonstration of harassment and double standards the U.S. sanctions against Cuban officials and police, after rejecting such behavior and calling for more aid like the one recently sent to the island.

The Foreign Ministry expressed its firm rejection of the imposition of such arbitrary and unilateral measures and interference in the internal affairs of any country under the pretext of protecting freedom, human rights, and democracy.

"The recent U.S. sanctions against Cuban institutions and officials seriously violate the basic norms governing international relations. They once again illustrate to the world its typical style of double standards and harassment,' it said.

The Foreign Ministry denounced that the persistence of Washington's economic, financial and commercial blockade is the main obstacle to the island's efforts to improve its economy and raise the well-being of its people. It also infringes on the rights to subsistence and development.

It demanded that the White House abide by the clamor of the international community, wholly and immediately lift said policy, and stop looking for excuses to proceed with interference and destabilization.

Enough of sanctions! The right thing to do is to help', said that office, stressing that the gestures of solidarity of China, several countries, and organizations of the planet with Cuba reflect how true friendship is tested in adversity.
