Havana, August 12 (RHC) Cuba will carry out a Population and Housing Census between September 10 and 29, 2022, local press reported.
The decision is stipulated in Decree 41 of the Council of Ministers, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic. The statistical research seeks to provide the State and other stakeholders with updated figures of the people's main demographic, social, economic, and educational characteristics and places of residence.
The inquiry will also enrich the availability of resources to evaluate the approved policies and the development plan until 2030.
The decree stated that the preparatory work for this study will begin this year.
Due to its importance and magnitude, the initiative requires the participation of the central administration of the State, national entities, local governments, other institutions, and citizens, the decree specified.
The last census conducted in Cuba was in 2012. It inquired about geographic, personal, household, educational, and migration characteristics.
At that time, the population was 11,167,325 inhabitants, including more than two million in Havana.
