The coordinator of the Dominican Solidarity Campaign with Cuba, Roberto Payano.

Santo Domingo, September 3 (RHC)--The coordinator of the Dominican Solidarity Campaign with Cuba, Roberto Payano, ratified the support of the organization he heads for the island and repudiated the U.S. blockade against it.

Speaking at the TV program Hablan los Educadores, Canal del Sol, Payano outlined the history of love of the Dominican people for the largest of the Antilles and the road traveled by Solidarity since its beginnings many years ago.

He recalled those who initiated the work with the Friends of the Island Committees, which resulted in the current campaign, and all that has been done in terms of friendship between the two nations.

He highlighted Cuba's capacity to help its neighbors and friends and said: 'It has always gone to share what it has when called, let's remember how much this nation has given in medicine, education, and sports, among others, without forgetting its participation in Africa'.

Payano explained Cuba's need for supplies and medicines derived from the current pandemic and the circulationof the Delta strain,  which is why two centers are open to collect donations while offering details on recent shipments to Havana and the east of the country, thanks to solidarity members, Cuban residents and the government.

De León described the U.S. blockade as criminal, highlighted Cuba's example for all countries in terms of human, educational and scientific development, among other areas, and recalled how at the UN 184 nations voted in favor of lifting that horror, with only the rejection of the northern nation and Israel.
