Workshop
Havana, Sept 28 (RHC) Cuba is participating virtually in an interregional workshop of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which aims to promote the relationship between creative economy and Global Geoparks.
Organized by the headquarters of this organization in Uruguay, this event was attended by officials from the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO (CNCU) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
To improve awareness and understanding of the key issues facing global society, this workshop takes place in the framework of the current year of the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, declared by the United Nations.
The space was also made possible by UNESCO's Global Geoparks Management Schemes in Latin America, the Caribbean and the Arab States (GEO-SCHEMAS) project.
Unesco Global Geoparks correspond to unique and unified geographic areas where sites and landscapes of international geological importance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development.
These areas represent centers of knowledge generation and outreach societies through education and research, and the promotion of nature-based activities. (Source: ACN)
