Santiago de Cuba, July 9 (RHC) –- Venezuelan Navy’s School Frigate Simon Bolivar is paying an official visit to Santiago de Cuba as its crew participates in different activities including meetings with local authorities.
The Venezuelan officers, cadets and seamen paid homage to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti and to the Liberator Simon Bolivar, and visited the headquarters of the Provincial Government. They also met with the chief of the Cuban Navy at the Eastern Military District.
“This is our fifth visit to Cuba,” said Venezuelan Captain Anibal Brito and added that although in previous occasions they have come to Havana, this time they decided to visit the historic city of Santiago, which will be of great interest to all crew members.
The Venezuelan visitors will visit the former Moncada garrison and the Morro Castle, where they will learn about the naval combat that put an end to the Cuba-Spanish-American War.
