Havana, December 14 (RHC)-- The Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) announced that the country has already reached seven million active mobile lines.

Commenting on the milestone on Twitter, Communications Minister Mayra Arevich said the challenge is increasing the percentage of the Cuban population with at least one mobile line and connected to the Internet.

She added that this coverage is the result of the country's will and the talent of its technicians. It has been achieved despite the reinforced U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which has a considerable impact on this sector.

"We continue with our purpose of providing more and better services according to the needs of our people," ETECSA pointed out on its Twitter account, corresponding with the commitment to the development of Cuba's informatization under sovereign conditions.

With the last promotion of activation of mobile lines, ETECSA specialists stated that approximately 300,000 lines were contracted, which,  to a large extent, contributed to reaching that figure.
