Havana, December 14 (RHC)-- Daniel Ortega, President of Nicaragua, described the Cuban people as an example of dignity because forged in the love for the land they inhabit, they have known not only to resist but also to create and contribute from the resistance, in the face of the most terrible aggression of US imperialism.

Speaking at the 20th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), which took place Tuesday in Havana, he stressed that the United States violates human rights and commits genocide against an entire people, about the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.

Before the heads of state and government attending this regional meeting, the Sandinista leader pointed out that because of all that imperialism has done and is doing, the world is suffering not only the COVID-19 pandemic but also that of savage capitalism.

He denounced how, in the name of democracy,  imperialism murders peoples, destroys nations, provokes chaos on the planet, and in this sense, he described the actions of NATO as State terrorism, which has also caused crises in Europe, "preaches" peace while unleashing wars in many parts of the planet.

We are deeply anti-imperialist because of the many aggressions that the Nicaraguan people have faced, said Ortega in his extensive intervention. He alluded to historical interventions of the US government in his country, where Somocismo was its ally and created great suffering in the population.

After also alluding to the aggressions suffered by other peoples of the region, the Sandinista leader described the creation of ALBA -TCP, 17 years ago by Commanders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, as a step of courage, of dignity that defied the existing fear in Latin America and the Caribbean, dominated by imperialism.
