Havana, December 14 (RHC)-- The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, said today that the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) has undoubtedly been "our space, our home".

Here we are brothers, here there are no powerful people who dominate, blackmail, scold, threaten, with weak people threatened; we are equal because ALBA is the house of brotherhood, of union, of big dreams, the Venezuelan President said during his speech at the 20th Summit of the organization, held on Tuesday in Havana.

Maduro Moros stressed that ALBA-TCP shares a geopolitical vision to fight for a world without empires, without neocolonialism, free, integrated peoples, without wars of pillage, a world of peace and without threats or use of force.

The Bolivarian leader recalled the beginnings of ALBA 17 years ago when an alternative to the rapacious and brutal neoliberalism that tried to colonize our countries with the defunct and forgotten FTAA Treaty (Free Trade Area of the Americas) was born.

He pointed out that ALBA has raised its voice since then and has made itself respected with the power of ideas, fundamentally in multilateral spaces.

He emphasized that the organization has also made it possible to bring together professionals to face crises such as the hurricane in Antigua and Barbuda and the volcano explosion in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

He also said that ALBA is the only bilateral integration mechanism that brings together ministers to build a shared vision of the region's countries.

Regarding the crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Maduro Moros acknowledged the work carried out by Cuba. This country deployed a great scientific capacity to create vaccines for the people and the world.

He described as successful the decisions taken a year ago when the region declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19, and together they took measures so that the peoples of ALBA would not lack medicines and vaccines.

Today that objective has been achieved, he emphasized.

He insisted that although coordination must be maintained in the social and political aspects, it is essential to keep it in the major issues of the countries that make up ALBA-TCP.

In this sense, he called for creating a comprehensive plan for the economic, financial, and monetary development of ALBA. Measures are created to encourage the production of food, goods and services, and wealth.

The Venezuelan President assured a concrete utopia whose success depends on walking united and integrated.

Finally, Maduro Moros denounced the attempts to attack the nations of Bolivia and Nicaragua; and rejected the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and the fierce campaign to destabilize and fill the Caribbean nation with violence.
