Havana, December 16 (RHC)-- The Swedish-Cuban Solidarity Association reached Thursday its goal of raising one million kronor, about 98 thousand euros, the equivalent of one million syringes to support vaccination against covid-19 on the island.
In a brief statement, the association's chairman, Zoltan Tiroler, recalled that the solidarity campaign had been launched in the spring.
It seemed like a big challenge, but we succeeded two weeks before the end of the year, which we are proud of, he said, recalling that one Swedish krona equals one syringe.
Tiroler affirmed that the campaign will continue until the end of 2021, surpassing the initial goal to support Cuba.
Solidarity with the island in Sweden is much stronger than what the media in our country recognizes, he stressed. Tiroler thanked the contributions of various Swedish society sectors to the initiative.
He also commented that when they collect a certain amount of money, they transfer it to MediCuba Switzerland, the entity in charge of processing the purchase of the syringes.
The Swedish-Cuban Solidarity Association stands out for its support to Cuba in its struggle against the blockade imposed by the United States and the destabilizing attempts incited and financed by the United States.
