Cuba confirms commitment to regional integration in CELAC

Buenos Aires, January 7 (RHC)-- Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez ratified on Friday his country's commitment to strengthen the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) as a mechanism for political coordination for regional integration.

Speaking at the XXII Meeting of Foreign Ministers of this mechanism, the Foreign Affairs Minister insisted on preserving the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace and its entire validity.

Rodríguez also welcomed the transfer to Argentina of the pro tempore presidency of the regional bloc and extended his country's support to strengthen Latin American unity.

At the same time, he expressed his support and solidarity with the South American nation in its claim to the International Monetary Fund to solve the fraudulent inherited debt and the declaration of sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands and its maritime spaces.

Rodriguez Parrilla expressed his commitment to continue consolidating regional and Caribbean unity and revitalizing CELAC.

In this regard, he acknowledged the role played by Mexico in the temporary presidency of the organization and its activism in the last two years.
