The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, said Monday that in 2022 the government prioritizes actions to increase production, counter inflation, improve municipal budgets and advance in social programs.

Havana, February 1 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, said Monday that in 2022 the government prioritizes actions to increase production, counter inflation, improve municipal budgets and advance in social programs.

The country's top leadership participated in a meeting with the presidents of the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power in which the need to advance the nation's goals despite adversities was ratified.

Díaz-Canel and the leaders of the provinces evaluated the national economic plan and the budgets of the territories, as well as their correspondence with the local development strategy.  The Cuban president urged to leave behind the setback left by COVID-19 and the situations experienced in the last two years.

For his part, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero called for a correct breakdown and specification of the activities to be undertaken as part of each municipal budget for the year.  "Already that generates confidence, that is democracy, because that strategy was worked out and reflects where the municipality is going until 2030", he stressed.

Meanwhile, the president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, described as a challenge the elaboration and implementation of budgets in the territories, as well as their influence on local development and autonomy.

During the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Prices, Meisi Bolaños, insisted on the importance of conceiving the budget in an integral manner, because it transversalizes all the tasks of the municipality and influences the actions proposed.

Recently, she highlighted the need to exercise greater popular participation in the management and control of budgets and in the use of monetary resources.

Referring to the State Budget Law for the current year, approved by the Cuban Parliament, Bolaños pondered that bet because the economic plan supports programs and basic services to the population, where municipal allocations play a fundamental role.
