The Lord of the Vanguard is remembered on the 90th anniversary of his birthday
Havana, February 6 (RHC)-- The 90th anniversary of the birth of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriarán was commemorated this Sunday in Havana with a political-cultural event.
The commemoration, presided over by Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, member of the Party Central Committee and first secretary of the organization in Havana, and Governor Reinaldo García Zapata, took place on Pocito Street between Anastasia and Lawton, where the birthplace of the Lord of the Vanguard is located, in the capital's Diez de Octubre municipality.
At the ceremony, a representation of outstanding workers received the membership card of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
Brigadier General Miguel Angel Llorente Leon, member of the invasion column No.2 Antonio Maceo under the command of Camilo, in highlighting the qualities of the Hero of Yaguajay mentioned his dignity, courage, his boundless loyalty to Fidel, and his effort to unite the comrades.
For her part, the First Secretary of the Party in the municipality of Diez de Octubre, Aymara Carrazana Guzmán, while delivering the central words of the ceremony said that Camilo's legacy is present in the production, economy and defense of the Cuban people, where the value of the Revolution is built and resignified every day.
