Havana, May 15 (RHC)-- Deputies to Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) will debate this Sunday three bills for new laws, linked to the country's legal and constitutional order.

Gathered in the fifth extraordinary session of the ninth legislature, at the Havana Convention Palace, the parliamentarians will analyze the proposed Penal Code, Penal Execution Law, and the regulations for the Protection of Constitutional Rights.

The Assembly's permanent working committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs will also make a statement on these legislations.

On Saturday, the Parliament approved three other laws: those referring to Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security, Protection of Personal Data, and the Natural Resources and Environment System.

The deputies also received information on the popular consultation process of the Family Code project, developed from February to April of this year, in which more than six million people participated and made around 434,860 proposals.

The president of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro, announced that around 60 percent of the criteria processed were positive, and specified that among the titles which generated more opinions were those referring to marriage, parental responsibility, adoption, gestation in solidarity and progressive autonomy.

The Minister of Justice, Oscar Silvera, said on behalf of the drafting committee, that the final version of the law will be submitted to Parliament by the end of June.
