Havana, June 5 (RHC)--The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) strongly rejected the attack perpetrated on Friday against the headquarters of the people's forum in New York.
Ina press statement, ICAP said it has noted with concern the intensification of attacks on social media networks against the valuable work of this center, which, since its foundation in 2018, has supported progressive forces in Latin America and other parts of the world.
The Institute added that its young members had deployed an important work in favor of social struggles and against any type of discrimination.
The text added that it was striking that this attack happened just when the people's forum and other left-leaning organizations in the US were working hard in preparation for the People's Summit in Los Angeles.
Havana's Casa de las Americas cultural institution also voiced its solidarity with the New York-based organization.
In a statement, it sent all its support and solidarity to the People's Forum members, whose New York City headquarters was the subject of an illegal attack by far-right reactionary forces.
"We condemn in the strongest terms these actions, which are unfortunate testimony to the rise of fascist tendencies in the United States, Casa de las Americas said.
The attack, perpetrated on June 3, had the support of the New York Police Department. In a statement, the People's Forum denounced that NYPD allowed the occupation attempt to continue for over an hour while People's Forum staff and guests were physically assaulted and verbally harassed, and anti-vaxxers vandalized the space.
