Havana, June 27 (RHC)-- Ugandan President Kaguta Museveni received on Monday in Kampala Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who is on an official visit to that African nation.

On Twitter, the foreign minister said, "We reaffirm the common will to expand cooperation ties and continue deepening political-diplomatic relations, founded on historical ties of brotherhood and solidarity between our nations."

Rodriguez also met with Monica Musenero Masanza, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa, permanent secretary of that organization, with whom he analyzed potentialities to expand cooperation and trade links.

Previously, the head of Cuban diplomacy discussed with the acting head of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Oryem Henry Okello, the possibilities of expanding cooperation in mutual interest and thus continue deepening the long-standing ties between the two countries.

Rodriguez expressed his gratitude for the Ugandan government's traditional support for the struggle to lift the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

He also reiterated Cuba's unwavering solidarity with Africa. He congratulated the host country on its forthcoming assumption of the pro tempore presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement in November 2023.
