Santa Clara, Jul 2 (RHC)-- The Interior Ministry of the central Cuban province of Villa Clara reported a violent incident that left one injured and one dead.

In an official note, the agency explained that on Friday, agents of the National Revolutionary Police responded to a complaint of disturbance of public order, where the lives of two women who were inside a house in the Condado Sur popular council in Santa Clara, were in danger.

The women were assaulted by eight individuals carrying bladed weapons, threatening and insulting them for personal reasons.

Upon noticing the presence of the police agents, the perpetrators began to attack them with stones. One of them rushed at a policeman with a knife and a machete and wounded him in the forehead.

"Faced with the imminent danger to the officer's life, his colleagues used their regulation weapon to defend his physical integrity."

In the incident, the primary aggressor, who had a criminal record, died. A resident not involved in the altercation was injured and received immediate medical assistance.

The note concluded by stating that the competent authorities are conducting a rigorous investigation for the total clarification of the incident.
