Diaz-Canel Presides Over Political-Cultural Gala in Artemisa

Havana, July 26 (RHC), – The member of the Politburo and First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, presided over the political-cultural gala held on the occasion of activities to mark July 26 in Artemisa, venue of the main rally for the Day of National Rebellioness.

On Thursday evening, locals, participants in the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons in 1953, and members of the Granma expedition force enjoyed in the square of this city the performance of artists such as the traditional music group Kinfuiti, the Guitarras Nuevas Liras orchestra, the Sonora de Cuba, David Esquivel and Niurka Reyes.

Also offering their art were the children’s septet of Artemisa, Pancho Amat and the Cabildo del Son group, improvisers Olga Lidia Posada, Hector Montesino and Victor Fernandez, and dancers of the Eduardo Abela Vocational Art School and the Danza Unida Company.

In addition to texts on the history and culture of the young province and screened images of its 11 municipalities, the president of the Association of Historians of Artemisa, Daniel Suarez, spoke about popular traditions, and the music of Cesar Lopez and Havana Ensemble delighted the audience.

Likewise, in this gala offered in Artemisa as part of activities to mark the 61st anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons, the local quintet Angerona interpreted music by Polo Montañez, and the concert bands of San Antonio de los Baños, Guanajay and Artemisa played for participants.
