Havana, August 31 (RHC)--Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended Tuesday the presentation of the Félix Varela Order of First Degree to the Children's Theater Company 'La Colmenita'.
Carlos Alberto Cremata Malberti, an outstanding pedagogue and general director of that group, also received the medal at the ceremony.
La Colmenita' is one of the most recognized companies in Cuba for its educational work with children and adolescents, who are trained not only in music, dance, and acting but also in moral values for the future.
Some of the children who have been part of this team were part of the cast of films such as Viva Cuba, Y sin embargo..., and Habanastation. Many of their presentations have been dedicated to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
Cremata Malberti and La Colmenita have taken their art to the most intricate areas of the national geography, and such is their repercussion in working with children's audiences that similar groups have been created in municipalities and provinces of Cuba and in other Latin American countries.
The group is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and its director received the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of the Arts last July.
