Ernesto Che Guevara.
La Paz, Oct 4 (RHC) A ceremony in tribute to Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara will take place today at the Vice Presidency of Bolivia with the participation of a panel headed by Vice President David Choquehuanca.
The organizers of the event informed Prensa Latina that another speaker will be the Cuban ambassador Danilo Sanchez, the member of the Communist Party of Bolivia Efrain Quicañez, and the music band Sobrevigencia.
This evening begins a commemorative program for the 55th anniversary of the presence of the Argentine-Cuban hero in Bolivia, which will include a National Meeting of the Movement of Solidarity with the Caribbean island.
"The celebration of this meeting in Valle Grande on October 8, is of special importance on the eve of the voting of a resolution in the United Nations on the need to eliminate the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against that brother country", affirmed the coordinator of that movement in La Paz, Jorge Barrón.
The activist assured us that this forum marks a very important moment for Bolivians since it occurs after a hard experience such as the coup d'état of November 2019 and, subsequently, the recovery of democracy with the electoral triumph of the president, Luis Arce.
"That was possible thanks to the struggle of the social sectors and the people in general, who vindicated the legacy of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara and now put back into practice the terms of internationalist solidarity, the struggle against injustice to build a better society for all," he said.
Regarding the program, he highlighted that before and after the meeting there will be events of political, social, and cultural relevance such as the Peoples' Gratitude to the Cuban Medical Brigade, which in November 2019 left due to the aggressiveness of the coup sectors.
A special session of the Honorable Municipal Council of Valle Grande and the Alternative Social Meeting Women Present in History will also take place to honor Tania la Guerrillera.
On the 8th, the day will conclude with the screening of the Argentine film El Día Que me quieras, by director Leandro Katz, and a debate afterward.
On Sunday 9, the participants in the solidarity meeting will move to the area of La Higuera, municipality of Pucará, where the central act in homage to Che Guevara and his comrades of the internationalist guerrilla will take place. (Source: PL)
