Havana, Oct 10 (RHC) Another ship with a donation of 400,000 bags of food, electrical equipment, and roofs arrived in Cuba this Sunday from Venezuela, as part of the solidarity aid, for the western provinces affected by Hurricane Ian.

The cargo was received at the port of Mariel, 45 kilometers from the Cuban capital, by the ambassador of that nation, Adan Chávez, and the Minister of Internal Trade Betsy Díaz, in an act of solidarity and fellowship between the countries of Latin America, and the Caribbean and recognition to the Cuban people and government to recover in the shortest time possible.

The Venezuelan diplomat stressed that this donation is a sign of what true fellowship between peoples means, as Simón Bolívar, Hugo Chávez, and Fidel Castro taught us, represented in these supplies for the populations suffering from the ravages of Hurricane Ian.

He stressed that the load is made up of electrical transformers, several tons of zinc sheets for roofs of houses, and food, "without neglecting Venezuelans because it is about sharing the little or much that we have depending on the circumstances that we have to live", he expressed.

Chávez recalled that gestures like these began to materialize with great force with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America through cooperation, solidarity, and fellowship, as other nations are doing because Cuba is not alone.

The Minister of Domestic Trade Betsy Díaz thanked the Venezuelan government for the generous and selfless contribution, to which another ship will be added in the coming days of incalculable value to repair the damage caused by Ian in the shortest possible time.

It is an acknowledgment of the efforts of our people and government to reverse the complex situation created and for moving forward in the face of the intensification of the cruel economic blockade of the United States, and also an expression of the excellent ties of fellowship that unite Cuba and Venezuela in the will of going forward together, she said.

She assured that all the conditions are created so that the donated resources arrive expeditiously in the affected areas and to the victims, who will appreciate the solidarity of the Venezuelan people and government.

Last Thursday, more than 15 tons of components and equipment were also received as part of the second air shipment from the South American country to support recovery efforts in the western provinces, which included polymeric insulators, lightning rods, hardware, and current breakers, a hundred chainsaws, and other means and materials.

Another load is expected with electric poles for public lighting, dielectric rods, hardware, and transformers.
