Cienfuegos, October 14 (RHC)-- Strengthening solidarity with Pinar del Río, the province most affected by Hurricane Ian was the focus of the issues evaluated here Thursday by the Vice President of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa.

Regarding the Food and Nutritional Education Program, when he analyzed the sowings in the current Cold Campaign, he said that due to the damages in the west, the areas of short-cycle crops should be increased here.

Planting more sweet potatoes, yucca, pumpkins, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, corn and increase the preparation of land to meet the productions, without backing down and trying to meet the needs of the population.

"The province of Cienfuegos has fulfilled in recent planting seasons and stabilizes the 30 pounds per capita of viands, vegetables and fruits, but there is greater demand from the population and must grow and grow more. We have to produce a lot".

So said the member of the Political Bureau of the Party in the meeting held in areas of the Central 5 de Septiembre located in the Cienfuegos municipality of Rodas.

Salvador Valdés referred to a program for the development of rustic hens, mainly in the municipalities and called for a more timely confrontation to the theft and illegal slaughter of big cattle, after listening to the central report presented by the Delegate of Agriculture, Mariela Díaz Sánchez.

He said that none of the three sugar mills planned for the next harvest, which will begin on November 30 on July 14, which fulfilled the sugar plan in the last harvest, had any problems.
