Ernesto Soberón announced that Cuba is preparing a Citizenship Law

Havana, Oct 30 (RHC) The director general of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Living Abroad of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Ernesto Soberón announced in Montevideo that our country is preparing a Citizenship Law and is working to promote relations with emigrants.

 

During a meeting with Cubans living in Uruguay, the official explained that draft laws on Passports and Foreigners' Affairs should also be approved for the next legislature of the Parliament.

 

"The new Constitution in force in Cuba since 2019 allows dual and more citizenships, but this requires legislation," Soberón stressed in the exchange that took place at the embassy of the island in the Uruguayan capital.

 

He stressed the impact of the U.S. blockade on irregular emigration and the dangers that this entails for those exposed to human trafficking and illegal smuggling of migrants. (Source: Radio Reloj)
