Havana, Nov 5 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked the World Council of Churches on Friday for its letter of support for the resolution against the blockade recently approved at the United Nations.

In a message posted on the social network Twitter, the president celebrated the solidarity of the religious organization for the public call-in favor of the removal of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also paid tribute to the position of the World Council of Churches, whose letter highlighted the support and admiration for the victory of Cuba's resolution in the 77th regular session of the UN General Assembly, in which 185 countries voted in favor, two voted against and two abstained.

The letter stressed that the ecumenical institution and several of its members have worked to denounce the impact of the U.S. blockade on the Cuban people.
