Havana, Nov 14 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated the Cuban firefighters on their day this last Sunday and recognized the dedication and courage with which they face each situation.

On his Twitter account, the dignitary highlighted the example that this body represents for the people who honor their performance accordingly.

“Eternal glory to those who have fallen in the line of duty,” Díaz-Canel wrote on that social network.

On November 13, 1696, 326 years ago, residents of the central city of Santa Clara, the capital of the former province of Las Villas, organized the first fire service in Cuba, which they financed for themselves.

Since then, numerous pages of heroism have starred in the country, those who have the responsibility of going to put out a fire or other event to rescue and save lives.

To remember the date, Cuban Firefighter's Day was approved in 1996, at a Latin American Congress held in Cuba.
