Algeria's prime minister receives president of Cuba

Algiers, November16 (RHC)-- Algeria's Prime Minister Aiman Benabderrahmane received on Wednesday in Algiers Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who began an official visit to the African nation.

At Houari Boumediene airport, the head of the host government was accompanied by the heads of Health and Culture, Abdelhak Saihi and Soraya Mouloudji. After the official ceremony, the delegations of the two countries held talks in the Protocol Hall of Honor of the air terminal.

This is the first stop of the Cuban head of state's international tour, the first after the COVID-19 pandemic, which will conclude on November 27, and also includes Russia, Turkey and China.

The intense tour will address essential issues for Cuba, mainly related to the electro-energy sector, which is facing a complex situation due to the deficit in generation capacities.

In announcing his visit to these countries, the president said on his Twitter profile that the program designed responds to the political and economic priorities of his country.

Likewise, he affirmed that the purpose of the visits is to promote efforts to alleviate the effects of a post-pandemic crisis of the Covid-19 that is affecting the whole world and is worsening for Cuba due to the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.

The Cuban delegation is also made up of Deputy Prime Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas and Alejandro Gil; Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez; the Ministers of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca; of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O; and of Public Health, José Ángel Portal.
