Venezuela-Cuba Solidarity Movement

Caracas, Nov 18 (RHC) The XII National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba continues in Caracas on its second day with conferences and meetings, where voices will be raised in rejection of the U.S. blockade against the island.

Among the topics to be discussed are the economic, commercial, and financial blockade and unilateral coercive measures as forms of imperialist aggression against the people and the role of women and youth in the context of mutual solidarity between Venezuelans and Cubans.

It also includes communication and counterculture as imperialist weapons of aggression against the independence and sovereignty of the peoples of Venezuela and Cuba.

The national delegates, Cubans, and international guests will visit the Antímano Parish and dialogue with members of the community, according to the program of the meeting, which will end tomorrow with the reading of a final declaration condemning the genocidal policy against the Caribbean nation.

The day before, Noemí Rabaza, first vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, stressed that the solidarity gesture of the Bolivarian Revolution came not only from the solidarity movement but also from the government and its people.

She praised the fact that Venezuelans were there in the darkest hours that Cuba has gone through in recent times.

Venezuela was one of the countries that immediately contributed to help the island after the unfortunate events at the Saratoga Hotel and in the industrial zone of Matanzas, where Cubans and Venezuelans joined fist to fist to quell the fire, she said.

The president of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, Edgardo Ramírez, said that the Caribbean nation shone again in the history of Latin America and the Caribbean and the world because despite the "criminal blockade", scientists created five vaccines for humanity.

"How great are the men and women of this nation", stressed the parliamentarian, and read an agreement of the group in which they demand the end of the punitive measures against Havana imposed by the United States more than 60 years ago.

This event is convened by the Venezuela-Cuba Friendship and Mutual Solidarity Movement, which next year will celebrate 20 years of offering its fraternal love to the people of the island.

This meeting is attended by Venezuelan social and political organizations and international guests from Brazil and Colombia, and on its final day will pay tribute to the outstanding Venezuelan revolutionary Ali Rodriguez Araque, who was ambassador to the island. (Source: PL)
