Quito, August 8 (RHC) —- A group of 200 Cuban doctors arrived in Ecuador on Friday in order to offer medical assistance in vulnerable and remote areas and to contribute to the Ecuadorian government plans to guarantee health services to all the people.
The specialists in family medicine and primary healthcare will both assist patients and give technical training to local medical teams.
Ecuador’s Deputy Health Minister David Acurio welcomed the Cuban doctors and explained that a major pillar of the Ecuadorian Revolution has been that of providing universal health services.
The 200 doctors will join hundreds of other Cuban specialists who have already been working in the South American nation, as part of a bilateral collaboration accord between Quito and Havana.
