Russian Orthodox Patriarch and Cuban president

Moscow, Nov 22 (RHC) The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill, today said Cuba is the island of freedom when he received the president of the Caribbean nation, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

In the Danilov Monastery, headquarters of the Russian Orthodox Church, both leaders recognized the broad ties of friendship that unite Havana and Moscow, in times when the West is trying to suffocate both countries.

Likewise, Kirill highlighted the strength of the Cuban people in preserving their sovereignty and independence, as well as their courage and strength to fight against capitalism.

Cuba is an example that the positions of force -whether political or physical- cannot always win; Cuba is a good example that truth can win over force, said the religious leader.

In turn, the Antillean dignitary expressed that Russia and Cuba are currently being subjected to the same formulas of imperial arrogance.

In that sense, he added that these measures are based on hatred, hegemonism, and arrogance, to which the dignitary added that Cuba will continue to support Russia in all scenarios.

The meeting between the Cuban president and the Orthodox leader was the third stop of the last day of the official visit that began on November 16 in Algeria and will continue in Turkey and China. (Prensa Latina)
