Díaz-Canel presides over tribute for the 70th anniversary of the University of Cuba
Santa Clara, November 30 (Prensa Latina)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel presided over the tribute for the 70th anniversary of the Marta Abreu de las Villas Central University (UCLV).
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) studied at this university in Santa Clara as an electronic engineer and discussed, in March 2021, his doctorate on the system of Government based on science and innovation for the sustainable development of the country.
The Minister of Higher Education and former rector of this university, José Ramón Saborido, will receive on this occasion the status of Doctor Honoris Causa.
Likewise, relevant professors will be awarded the 70th anniversary seal of the UCLV and another group of distinguished teaching personalities will also receive the 80th Anniversary of the Cuban Workers' Central (CTC).
The day before, Jorge Luis Broche, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC, led a meeting between former secretaries and former leaders of the organization at the university, in which they told stories, anecdotes, remembrances and expressed their admiration for the academic achievements of this institution.
This house of higher studies, the most multidisciplinary in the country, has 52 careers in different fields and more than 11 thousand students from the central provinces of Cuba, as well as another group of students from several countries, in different course modalities.
The UCLV acquired in 2008 the status of National Monument, after complying with all heritage regulations, and in 2016 it was accredited of Excellence, together with the University of Havana.
