Miguel Díaz-Canel begins tour of Caribbean nations
Havana, December 3 (RHC)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel today began a tour of Caribbean nations, which will include his participation along with several ministers in the 8th CARICOM-Cuba Summit to be held in Barbados next week.
The president made known on his Twitter profile that he will make official visits to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Grenada, countries he considered brothers of Cuba, united by "endearing ties of friendship and a history of support in the most difficult times."
The head of state recalled the words of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, who expressed that a "united and supportive Caribbean is our only path."
He also pointed out that when the United States and the Organization of American States forced all of Latin America to break ties with his country and only Mexico's support remained, four newly independent Caribbean nations (Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago) established diplomatic ties with the largest island of the Antilles.
"To commemorate it, we will be in Barbados this December 6," he added.
For his part, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said on the social networks that the official visits will be an opportunity to continue deepening relations of friendship, cooperation and solidarity.
