Havana, December 5 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel held on Monday in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, high-level meetings with the president of that country, Dame Sandra Mason and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

Upon his arrival to the Caribbean island, the Cuban president went to the State House headquarters to pay a courtesy visit to his Barbadian counterpart, the Cuban Presidency reported on Twitter.

Cuban diplomatic sources confirmed that during the meeting both ratified the will to continue strengthening the historic ties of friendship and cooperation that unite the two nations.

Díaz-Canel's agenda in that city included a meeting with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, at her official residence, with whom he held private talks.

In Barbados, the Cuban leader said on Twitter that his visit will be an opportunity to further advance relations with that nation and the Caribbean countries at the VIII Caricom-Cuba Summit, to be held tomorrow, Tuesday.

The work program includes official talks between the delegations of both parties in which, according to reports, they will discuss the possibilities of increasing cooperation in areas such as health, agriculture, tourism, education, culture and sports.
