Havana, Dec 5 (RHC) During his recent visit to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Cuba's Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, said that for the Island, cooperation in the field of health, which reaches the entire Caribbean region, is unavoidable.

In statements to the press of the Presidency, he explained the significance of Cuban cooperation in the field of health for the Caribbean, which currently amounts to 1,441 collaborators in 13 States.

Portal Miranda pointed out that to date, more than 3,000 professionals from different countries have been trained in Cuba, as part of the collaboration program that has been in place for several years.

He said that 641 Caribbean students are currently studying Medical Sciences at the country's universities.

The minister commented on the possibilities of expanding cooperation associated with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, a topic they hope to discuss at the upcoming Summit with the Caribbean Community.

He stressed that during the tour of the health institutions in San Vicente, together with President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the Prime Minister of that country, Ralph Gonsalves, they verified the results of the work of the Cuban professionals together with the local doctors, and also recognized the Modern Medical and Diagnostic Center in Georgetown.

He considered that the achievements in the sister nation are the result of the high-quality services that the collaborators provide to the population, which is a source of pride for the Homeland.
