The Cuban Telecommunications Company SA (ETECSA) reported Wednesday that it signed an agreement with the French company Orange SA to expand and diversify its international capacities.
Havana, Dec 7 (RHC) The Cuban Telecommunications Company SA (ETECSA) reported Wednesday that it signed an agreement with the French company Orange SA to expand and diversify its international capacities through the placement of a submarine fiber optic cable between Martinique and the province of Cienfuegos.
The submarine cable system is intended to support 's international expansion in the face of a growing demand for Internet and broadband connection. It will be deployed by Orange Marine, a subsidiary of Orange.
The physical structure of the submarine cable will be ready in 2023 and will provide the country with a new route for international services, which will geographically diversify the current connectivity.
According to the country's economic possibilities, this cable will allow continuing expanding international connectivity.
