Nicolás Maduro highlighted ALBA-TCP
Havana, Dec 14 (RHC) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Wednesday in the Cuban capital that the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) must prove every time that it is a union for development, peace, and vanguard.
"The members of the multilateral mechanism must be united for action and support each other," the president said while speaking at an extraordinary session of Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the organization.
Maduro pointed out that almost two decades after its constitution, the union must be based on liberating principles for action and take into account the wishes and needs of the people.
The head of state stressed that ALBA-TCP is made up of governments and peoples who are the progressive vanguard of the region; united and victorious after enduring conspiracies, aggressions, and internal and external campaigns.
He ratified the solidarity with the leaders of Bolivia and Dominica for their victories over the conspiracies that tried to boycott the stability of their countries and denounced the campaigns against Cuba and Nicaragua.
Maduro recalled the founding moment of the Alliance by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), and Commander Hugo Chávez Frías (1954-2013), who united their revolutions and peoples to tell Latin America and the Caribbean that they had to work together for equality and liberation.
Maduro spoke before high-level representatives from Nicaragua, Cuba, Bolivia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda, as well as the deputies of the host nation.
Diplomatic sources confirmed a program of activities for the delegations which includes the celebration of the XXII ALBA-TCP Summit aimed at promoting cooperation projects among the member states. (Source: PL)
