Havana, Dec 15 (RHC) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stressed that the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) has the task of demonstrating its practical superiority, the Cuban Foreign Ministry disclosed Thursday.

Through its Twitter account, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean nation released the statements of the South American leader after the XXII Summit of the bloc, held the day before in this capital, where he addressed the challenges of the organization.

"Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez took a foundational step and demonstrated a great capacity to achieve a unitary dynamic in Latin America and the Caribbean, a unitary dynamic that had not been seen since the times of independence, since the times of Bolívar", Maduro recalled.

He pointed out as milestones of that work the birth of ALBA, PetroCaribe, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), and the Union of South American Nations, all of which emerged from a leadership of great regional and global impact of both leaders, he said.

However, he added, the tasks they left behind are immense and have to do with generating integration with the capacity to act for the daily life of the citizens of the countries of the area.

Maduro added that ALBA must achieve, as a political, cultural, social, and economic vanguard of Latin America and the Caribbean, to prove in practice that it is superior to any other known mechanisms and that it can generate solutions to the people’s real problems. (Source: PL)
