Bahamas’ Prime Minister arrives in Cuba for an official visit

Havana, Dec 19 (RHC) Philip Davis, prime minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, arrived at the Jose Marti International Airport in this capital for an official visit to the island.

 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Antillean nation, Davis will hold talks with Cuban authorities and carry out other activities of interest during his stay in the archipelago.

 

On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Bahamas, Bruno Rodriguez, Cuba's Foreign Minister, reaffirmed the will to strengthen the existing ties of friendship and cooperation.

 

in August, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic, visited Nassau the capital of the Bahamas, to participate in the First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom). During a meeting with Chester Cooper, Bahamian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Aviation, and Investment, both parties agreed on the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation.

 

Within the framework of the 9th Peoples' Summit, Davis called for the end of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba, and said that it is the longest blockade in modern times and directly influences the irregular emigration that affects this country.

 

In that scenario, he said that the exclusion of Cuba from the regional meeting meant an incomplete dialogue. He also thanked the doctors of the archipelago for offering their solidarity in Bahamian lands when in January 2022, the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Situations of Disasters and Serious Epidemics supported the confrontation of the Covid-19 pandemic in that Caribbean territory.
