Havana, Dec 20 (RHC) Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, held official talks today with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic.

At the Palace of the Revolution, the distinguished guest and his entourage were received with military honors by the Cuban leader, together with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Ministers Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Foreign Trade and Investment, and José Ángel Portal Miranda, Public Health, as well as other officials.

Shortly before the official talks, Davis held a meeting with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, who last August visited Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, to participate in the First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom).

Also on Tuesday, the distinguished guest paid homage to National Hero José Martí, with a wreath in front of the equestrian statue that evokes the Apostle of Independence in the 13 de Marzo Park, in Old Havana.

Both Caribbean countries have maintained diplomatic relations since 1974 and there is a willingness to maintain those ties, said Foreign Minister Rodriguez Parrilla.

Every year, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas unites its vote in the United Nations in favor of the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the US government. (Source: ACN)
