Cuban Education Minister highlights commitment to teaching values
Havana, Dec 22 (RHC) Cuban Education Minister Ana Elsa Velazquez said that December 22 is a date of commitment, teachings, and the formation of values.
Summing up the national ceremony on Teacher’s Day, the minister made a historic summary of the qualities that characterize a good teacher, who has in his hands the most precious thing in society.
She referred to the existing limitations due to the United States’ severe blockade against Cuba and how teachers overcome them to give the best of themselves for the future of the country with the mission of teaching the new generation.
Jesús Dario, a recent graduate from the Manuel Ascunce Pedagogical School, thanked his teachers, who taught him values and instilled in him a love for education.
The commemorative event was presided over by Ulises Guilarte, general secretary of the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC), and Jorge Luis Broche, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), who presented diplomas and awards to distinguished personalities and a group of teachers linked to the history of education in Cuba.
