Cuban foreign minister regrets tragic accident in Senegal

The collision of two buses took place near the town of Sikilo, in the Kaffrine region, some 200 kilometers southeast of Dakar, and left more than 80 injured.

Havana, Jan 9 (RHC) Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, today expressed his condolences to the people and Government of Senegal for the tragic traffic accident that occurred in that country and caused the death of 38 people.

 

In his Twitter profile, the Cuban foreign minister conveyed his feeling of regret and solidarity to relatives and close friends of the victims.

 

According to local media, the collision of two buses took place near the town of Sikilo, in the Kaffrine region, some 200 kilometers southeast of Dakar, and left more than 80 injured.

 

The first data provided by a police report indicates that the tire of a bus assigned to public transportation, burst, which cause it to leave its trajectory before colliding with another vehicle coming from the opposite side.

Authorities described the accident as one of the worst in years, and Senegalese President Macky Sall decreed a three-day national mourning beginning today. (PL)
