Cuban Ambassador to Argentina Pedro Pablo Prada
Buenos Aires, Jan 10 (RHC) Cuba is moving forward today without fear or doubts, sure of the path chosen since the revolutionary triumph of 1959, said the Caribbean nation's ambassador to Argentina, Pedro Pablo Prada.
Before authorities, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of social organizations, intellectuals, and graduates in the largest of the Antilles, Prada highlighted the importance of the process led by Fidel Castro (1926-2016), which celebrated its 64th anniversary.
We got here by defying a blockade tightened by former U.S. President Donald Trump (2017-2021) with 243 measures aimed at strangling Cuban families and the Cuban economy. The same remains intact during Joe Biden's administration despite the overwhelming rejection of the international community, he said.
He also denounced the strategy of subjugation outlined by the Central Intelligence Agency: replacing native values with false ones, mocking decency and honesty, imposing insolence, deceit, lies, irrational fear among peers, betrayal, nationalism, hatred, and enmity among peoples.
That is what we also survived, despite the tens of millions of dollars allocated to a plan to impose a foreign model on us and which had among its recent episodes an attack on a children's hospital, the derailment of a train with food, the destruction of goods, and a political, diplomatic and communicational conspiracy, he pointed out.
The ambassador emphasized that his country overcame natural phenomena, accidents, and the encouragement of illegal, disorderly, and unsafe migration, by the same people who deport or imprison thousands of other Latin Americans and Caribbean people.
As our President Miguel Díaz-Canel affirms, they want to destroy us. Nature and chance put us to the test, but here we are, undefeated like Fidel, who survived more than 600 assassination attempts, he said.
He also assured that the main weapons of the Cuban people are joy, creativity, and optimism, and for him, the words selfishness, discouragement, surrender, and defeat do not exist.
On the other hand, he recalled that 2023 will be the 50th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Argentina, "whose governments learned from their peoples to live together in peace, respect, support and work together for the common good". (Source: PL)
