Student leader Julio Antonio Mella

Havana, Jan 10 (RHC) On Tuesday, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero highlighted the legacy of student leader Julio Antonio Mella, on the 94th anniversary of his death.

Through his Twitter account, the head of government said that Mella represents an "encouraging, exemplary, victorious and invincible flag of Cuba's Socialist Revolution".

In that social network, the Secretary of the Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, described the student leader as a tireless fighter for justice, social equality, and anti-imperialism.

Earlier, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel recalled that Mella's last words when he was shot at the age of 25 were "I die for the Revolution".

He also highlighted the political leadership of the Cuban revolutionary, who is recognized as a guide by organizations such as the Federation of University Students -FEU-, and the Union of Young Communists.

Julio Antonio Mella was co-founder of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and FEU, among others, and in his short life developed a feverish political and revolutionary activity that made him an international leader.

His ashes were transferred to Cuba on September 29, 1933, and since 1976 they remain in the Julio Antonio Mella Memorial, in front of the University of Havana (Source: Prensa Latina).
