Havana, Feb 5 (RHC) Army General Raul Castro was nominated today as a candidate for deputy to Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power to be elected next March.
The Army General's nomination took place during an extraordinary session in the municipal assembly of II Frente, a territory of the province of Santiago de Cuba, in eastern Cuba, national television reported.
The local government body also elected as one of its candidates for deputies the district delegate Alexander Chaveco.
The list of candidates for deputies to the Cuban parliament, which was disclosed to the press, specifies that this legislative body will be made up of 470 representatives, of which 223 are grassroots delegates.
The municipal assembly of II Frente informed on its social networks that it will later announce the schedule of visits and meetings with the candidates' neighbors.
Starting tomorrow, February 6, and until March 24, the candidates will visit the territories they will represent to talk with the population. (Source: Prensa Latina)
