Candidates for Cuba’s parliament hold meetings with citizens

Havana, Feb 6 (RHC) The 470 nominees for deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament) of Cuba are touring from today until March 24 the territories for which they were nominated to dialogue with citizens.

 

The meetings in communities, schools, production, and service centers, will allow the population to know their possible representatives in the next 10th legislature of the parliament of the Caribbean nation, according to electoral authorities.

 

The day before, in extraordinary sessions of the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power, more than 400 nominees to the legislative body were approved.

 

The meetings had a 95% attendance rate and the most represented sectors were general and higher education, health, sports, and press.

According to the president of the National Nominations Commission, María Consuelo Baeza, in the municipalities of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Vertientes, in the central province of Camagüey, it was necessary to change the nomination proposal, since the delegates did not agree with the original one.
