Havana, Feb 9 (RHC) The VIII Congress of the Federation of Agroindustrial Workers of Italy (Flai-CGIL), which is in session until today, included a debate on solidarity with Cuba, with the participation of delegates from that country.
A spokesperson for the union indicated that in a round table on the value of international solidarity, the interventions of the Cuban ambassador, Mirta Granda, and the general secretary of the National Union of Workers of the Food and Fishing Industry of that nation, Jorge Luis Fajardo, were highlighted.
The diplomat referred to the serious damage caused by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on her country, which affects the economy and all the people, a flagrant massive, and systematic violation of human rights.
The debate, which also included the participation of Dr. Carlos Pérez, head of the medical brigade of the "Henry Reeve" International Contingent that served in Italy during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Claudia González, counselor of the embassy, addressed the current context on the Island.
Granda emphasized that, despite the severe economic difficulties Cuba faces, that nation will always maintain its support, with solidarity and humanism, to just causes and the neediest, and thanked the workers and people of Italy for their support to her country.
During the VIII Congress of the Federation of Agroindustrial Workers of Italy, which began on the 7th with the theme Work Creates the Future, the delegates of this union, one of the main Italian trade union organizations, carried out in-depth analyses and reflections on national and international issues.
