Havana, Feb 11 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Saturday greeted the medical brigade of the Henry Reeve International Contingent that is traveling to Turkey to provide aid in the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit that nation.

Through his Twitter account, the head of state said with the arrival of the specialists, our country ratifies the will and sensitivity to contribute to saving lives and helping the recovery of the victims of the terrible earthquake.

Cuban health authorities said goodbye the day before to the medical brigade, made up of 32 professionals, 28 men, and four women. Of these, 20 are medical specialists and 11 are graduates, including nurses, epidemiologists, and service personnel.

Of these, 56.9 percent are between 30 and 45 years of age and have more than five years of work experience in the sector.

Also, 69 percent served internationalist and emergency missions in Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Guinea Conakry, and Liberia in the fight against Ebola; and in Kuwait and Andorra in the fight to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

Turkish authorities reported that more than 20 thousand people lost their lives as a result of the earthquakes registered on Monday in the south of the country, near the border with Syria (Source: Prensa Latina).
