V Session of Cuba-Canada Inter-Chancellery Political Consultations Concludes

 

Havana, Feb 28 (RHC) Representatives of Cuba and Canada held the Fifth Session of Inter-Chancellery Political Consultations, where they ratified their willingness to continue working on the development of economic and trade ties.

During the meeting, both parties highlighted the good state of bilateral relations and insisted on the importance of maintaining political exchanges, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported on its website.

The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean country, Gerardo Peñalver, and Canada’s First Deputy Minister of Global Affairs, David Morrison.

The Cuban side acknowledged Canada's traditional support for the resolution against the blockade imposed by the United States on the island and thanked the support received during the fire at the supertanker base in the western province of Matanzas.

Meanwhile, the Canadian delegation showed interest in continuing to expand economic ties, especially with the new forms of business management on the Island.

Cuba and Canada established diplomatic relations in 1945 and maintain important economic ties. For years, Canada has been the leading tourist source market for the island (Source: PL).
