Health experts from Cuba and the US update cooperation ties

Havana, March 23 (RHC) Officials from Cuba and the United States updated this Thursday the cooperation ties in the Health sector, during a meeting held at the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK), in Havana.

On this day, specialists from the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) and the IPK exchanged with officials from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (Niaid) of the United States.

This is part of compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between MINSAP and HHS in 2016.

Representing the island were Carilda Peña, Vice Minister of Health, and medical science professionals.

Meanwhile, the US delegation, which was attended by scientists and specialists, was headed by Joyelle Kalei Dominique, director of the Niaid Office of Global Research.

The parties agreed to continue working on the implementation of the Memorandum and to promote technical contacts related to research on arboviral diseases, experiences of Covid-19 and other topics.

The Americans also met with directors and scientists from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, of the BioCubaFarma group, with whom they discussed issues of mutual interest. (Source: Prensa Latina)
