Cuba advances in digital transformation regarding health
Havana, March 29 (RHC) The digital transformation taking place today in Cuba in the health sphere will guarantee greater efficiency in the services provided to the population.
According to Leodán Vega, deputy director of the Center for Medical Informatics, the objective is to achieve universal connectivity and interoperability as a principle to ensure the coexistence of the entire ecosystem of Health applications, as well as inclusive digital health, aimed primarily at sectors in vulnerable situations.
The areas of work are electronic medical record, mobile health, telehealth, teaching and research with the help of information and communication technologies, infrastructure, standardization and interoperability, and the legal and regulatory bases.
The biggest challenge in 2023 is putting the electronic medical record repository into operation with the applications created and a group of essential records such as vaccination records, death records, and the nephrology network.
Vega pointed out that one aspiration is to formalize the teleradiology system, which ensures the exchange of medical imaging studies among all national organizations, training processes, and guarantees access to information to carry out research with due protection of personal data.
