Vietnam and Cuba are preparing to strengthen relations
Havana, April 14 (RHC) - The president of the National Assembly (parliament) of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue, will soon arrive on an official visit to Cuba at the head of a large delegation.
Vietnamese ambassador Le Thanh Tung assured that the parliamentary leader will hold dialogues at the highest level with the Cuban authorities, in order to strengthen the historic relations of brotherhood and full trust between both parties, governments and peoples.
“The visit pursues the objective of further expanding and deepening bilateral collaboration in various fields. It is the largest that has reached the Caribbean island in terms of the number of political leaders, parliamentarians, businessmen and friendship associations,” Tung added.
Dinh Hue and his entourage will participate in the constitutive sessions of the 10th legislature of the Cuban Parliament, scheduled for April 19. A collaboration protocol will also be signed between the two national assemblies.
The program of the visit also contemplates the signing of several ministerial agreements and instruments of friendship and reciprocal contribution in matters of national defense, public security, justice, youth organizations, and between some provinces of both nations, the diplomat explained.
They will also visit joint ventures in the Mariel Exclusive Development Zone, located 45 km west of Havana.
Both countries celebrate this year the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the solidarity committee with the people of South Vietnam, and the 50th anniversary of the first visit of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro to the Quang Tri liberated zone, at that time in the middle of the war against the United States.
